Do I need any experience?

Not at all. My workshops are designed for complete beginners or people looking for a refresher.  It might help if you have a quick look at your camera before you come along and familiarise yourself with it’s menu system and some of the buttons but don’t worry if some of the vocabulary is completely foreign. The manuals that cameras come with can be pretty tough going!!! I’ll break everything down into easy to manage chunks and we’ll have lots of fun putting it all into practice with some hands on exercises. You’ll be amazed at how much you’ll learn in an afternoon!!

What do I need to bring with me?

Firstly, you’ll need to bring along your camera! Then you’ll need a lens - I’d suggest that you bring along the kit lens (which is the one it probably came with) and if you have a look will probably have some numbers on it that say 18-55mm somewhere. If you’re not sure what you have you can always send me a photo of the lens and I’ll let you know whether it will be suitable.  You’ll also need to bring along a fully charged battery and a memory card that has some free space. Any questions please  email me at

What camera do I need?

My workshops are really geared up for people wanting to learn how to use their digital SLR. So you ideally need to have one of those so that you can follow along with the hands on lessons. If you’re not sure whether the camera you have is suitable please feel free to drop me a line at and I’ll be able to advise you.

Yes, I offer 1-2-1 training for people who either can’t make my group workshop dates or for those wanting some bespoke training. We can have a chat about your experience to date and what you'd like to focus on and plan a tailored session or set of lessons.

Do you offer 1-2-1 training?

Do you run any workshops for children?

I do. I often run these at the lovely venue Blaegrove Barn in Up Nately during half terms and summer holidays.  If you send me an email letting me know you are interested I’ll add you to my mailing and I'll be in touch when the next set of dates are released.

What happens if I need to rearrange or cancel?

Not a problem at all. Life has a funny way of getting in the way sometimes!! Just let me know as soon as you can and I can either offer you a place on a workshop running later in the year or provide a refund.

I hold the workshops at a number of venues in and around Basingstoke. To check my latest dates and venues please see here .

I’m also happy to put together bespoke training courses and travel to other locations. Please get in touch to find out more
